FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have any questions not answered below, feel free to give us a call on (03) 9663 9122.

Q: What is Personal Training?

A: Personal Training can be whatever you need it to be.

You can use PT sessions to improve your combat sports, build strength and fitness, transform your physique, rehabilitate an injury, or even get help with your nutrition and lifestyle. Each session is completely tailored to your goals.

Not sure what your goals are yet? Our experienced coaches can help assess your current abilities and guide you in the right direction.

Q: How do I get started?

A: Simply fill out the form on this page and one of our trainers will be in touch to book your first session.

Your initial session usually includes an assessment and a conversation about your goals. From there, we’ll create a clear plan to help you progress.

Q: How much does Personal Training cost?

A: Pricing depends on the coach’s level and how often you train. Discounts are available when purchasing sessions in bulk.

Q: Can I choose my own coach?

A: Absolutely. You can train with whoever you like.

Not sure who to pick? Our Personal Training Manager can match you with the coach best suited to your goals, training style, and personality.

Q: What coaches are available for Personal Training?

A: All of our coaches offer personal training, though pricing and availability may vary. Get in touch and we’ll help find the right fit.

Q: Where can I do personal training?

A: Personal training is available at all Absolute MMA locations. Facilities and coaches vary slightly at each location.

Q: When can I train?

A: Personal training is designed to be flexible. You and your coach will schedule sessions that fit into your life.

Q: Do I need to be fit to start personal training?

A: Not at all. Our coaches train clients of all fitness levels. Personal training is one of the fastest and safest ways to improve your health and performance—no matter where you're starting from.

Q: Do I need martial arts experience to do personal training?

A: No experience required. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned athlete, we’ll tailor each session to your skill level and goals.

Q: Can I do personal training just for fitness or weight loss, without martial arts?

A: Definitely. Many clients work with us purely for general fitness, weight loss, or strength and conditioning—no martial arts necessary.

Q: What should I bring to my first session?

A: Wear comfortable training clothes and bring a water bottle. If you're doing martial arts-specific training, bring any relevant gear (e.g., gloves, mouthguard). Your coach will let you know if anything extra is needed.

Q: Can I train with a friend or partner?

A: Yes! We offer semi-private sessions for two or more people. It’s a great way to stay motivated and share the cost—just mention it when you enquire.

Q: What’s the difference between personal training and group classes?

A: Personal training gives you 100% of your coach’s attention and a program fully tailored to your goals, fitness level, and schedule. Group classes are a great option too, but PT offers the fastest and most focused path to progress.

Q: What kind of people get 1:1 training?

A: People who want:

  • Motivation – Having a set time makes you more accountable.

  • Expert guidance – Learn how to move safely and effectively.

  • An extra push – You’ll work harder with a coach in your corner.

  • Simplicity – Just show up. Your coach handles the planning.

Q: How often should I train 1:1 with a coach?

A: It depends on your goals, schedule, and budget. Some train once per week, others 4+ times per week. For best results, we recommend 2 or more sessions per week, ideally at the same time each week to build consistency.

Q: How long are the sessions?

A: Sessions typically run for 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your coach and preferences.
