Mixed Results For Absolute at Valor and AFC

A mixed bag of results for the fight team over the weekend, the guys picking up 2 wins and three losses.
First up was Valor down in Tassie. Dave Lescai put on a great show is his first professional fight, finishing his opponent with a slam for the TKO win. Raphaël “The Zombie” Berthet got caught very early unfortunately though and was submitted before he could even look to recover. Always heartbreaking when you don’t even get a chance to show the skills you’ve worked so hard for.

On Sunday with had AFC – Australian Fighting Championships.

Wrestling coach Tyler Petee had a rough one in his debut. He looked great when striking but was quite a bit undersized (some confusion with the fight weight in the other camp) and so struggled in the grappling. He came close with an armbar at one stage but it was not to be. Props to him for stepping up against a bigger opponent than anticipated though.

Coach Luke “The Lycan” Catubig also had a rough night, getting caught in his opponent’s game. Lukaz just wasn’t able to land his power shots unfortunately.

Mitch O’Dowd put on a trademark performance, taking his dangerous opponent down and submitting him with an armbar off a triangle. Prior to the fight, Mitch called the entire sequence leading to the finish with stunning premonition too, very impressive!

Congratulations to Dave and Mitch on their outstanding performances. Big things to come from these guys!
Commiserations to Lukaz, Raph and Tyler. You didn’t get the result you were looking for on the weekend but we’ve all seen your games develop tremendously over the past couple months. The results of those efforts are still with you and you’ll get another chance to show what you can do in upcoming bouts.
A big shout out to Jeremy Wharerau too, a massive weekend for you and your efforts with the fighters is always incredible.
